Testimonials

MyCM is one of the most important and treasured milestone of my son’s music education. Since my son’s involvement with MyCM in 2014, his confidence has boosted tremendously which ignited him to show his deep passion and love of music performance. The group was carefully assembled by the coach who clearly understands each player’s strength, working patiently and delicately during each coaching sessions, they grow and flourish together as a whole. As a MyCM participant, my son was able to perform in masterclasses given by distinguished musicians and attend workshops under various music professionals. I am very happy to see how much my son loves his MyCM group.

With the rare amount of chamber organizations for young musicians in Miami, I am proud to say that my child attends MyCM. This program offers a challenge for all different types of musician levels, yet allows them to excel with a steady approach from their coaching and encouragement they receive amongst their peers. Mrs. Wilcox is a great musician and a wonderful music educator. She soaks and radiates her passion and dedication towards music to inspire the young ones. She takes up her own time to help skyrocket the musicians. Selectively chosen repertoire to spark their interests keeps them entertained and productive with the time they have. I definitely recommend MyCM!!

MyCM, Miami Youth for Chamber Music, is a unique music youth program in South Florida. It provides children all over our community the possibility of being part of a chamber music group. My son has been part of this organization since day one and I have seen his musical progress through his participation in MyCM. The coaches are not only professional musicians but also pedagogues that put hard work and dedication into every coaching, instilling an appreciation for chamber music that will last a lifetime.

We are so happy that our son joined MyCM, and participated in the Chamber music workshop. It is so rare to find such a high quality workshop in classical music for young people. And such a fantastic opportunity for them to meet, share and work together on something beautiful. The musicians were excellent: serious, talented, and committed, and the mentoring was inspiring. Our son was so enthusiastic! He said he had never had such positive and helpful instruction as this. It was also great for the musicians to have the chance to perform their work in progress. Overall, the results were impressive. We’re glad we moved here from Chicago! We’re looking forward to continuing the work. Thank you for organizing it!

My experience with MyCM was amazing. It truly felt like a shortened, intense version of a music festival, including all the laughter and fun. Mrs. Wilcox went out in all sorts of ways to fulfill everybody’s needs and set up our vigorous schedule. It was wonderful to work, learn, and spend time with people that were all sorts of ages. This program definitely was a positive experience, and I will continue attending it!

I really enjoyed being part of the MyCM workshop. Playing with other really talented musicians was probably one of the most inspiring musical experiences for me. The instruction we received was truly motivating, and the performance we had at the end of the workshop was a great opportunity to share our accomplishments with other participants. I am looking forward to continuing playing with the other musicians, and am very happy to have joined the MyCM.

I like playing in the MyCM quartet because you always have to be alert to your fellow musicians. It is not like performing solo where you are the main protagonist, but it is an environment in which everyone has an equal role in the piece. We also need to work as a team. One might think that sometimes the 1st violin has everything but no… the smallest 16th note is important to the overall structure of the piece, even if it is the most boring one. Playing with the MyCM quartet has helped me develop a new musical character outside of the virtuosic solo view and I enjoy it a lot. The teachers, my friends, the repertoire, among other things, make MyCM a great music organization to belong to.

I have been in MyCM for about a year and it has truly changed my life. It has allowed me to explore more aspects of music and has helped me improve my music skills. It has given me a great opportunity to be able to work with other musicians my age and to enjoy the wonderful gift of Chamber Music.
