I like playing in the MyCM quartet because you always have to be alert to your fellow musicians. It is not like performing solo where you are the main protagonist, but it is an environment in which everyone has an equal role in the piece. We also need to work as a team. One might think that sometimes the 1st violin has everything but no… the smallest 16th note is important to the overall structure of the piece, even if it is the most boring one. Playing with the MyCM quartet has helped me develop a new musical character outside of the virtuosic solo view and I enjoy it a lot. The teachers, my friends, the repertoire, among other things, make MyCM a great music organization to belong to. Ian Barnett (violinist, age 11)
